We Fail
We often fail to realize…
What it is like,
That is,
On the other side…
What it is,
To receive our way of being,
Our way of living.
What it takes,
To tolerate…
Have patience for…
And understand,
Truly understand.
For when in our shoes,
It’s easy to justify our nature..
How,
And why it is we act…
Or don’t…
Neglecting to comprehend,
How it is…
What it is,
In reverse,
In the perception of another.
What it means for them,
To take the time,
That time,
Their time…
Out of their day,
For us.
So consumed in and by,
Our justifications,
Reasoning…
Fears…
Failing to realize the impact,
That is,
On another…
Failing to realize the sacrifices…
Compromises,
That is,
By another…
The forgiveness…
What it is,
They forelook…
What it is,
They know,
But don’t share…
They see,
But they don’t judge…
For they care too much,
Caring for you…
Offering the benefit of the doubt,
Accepting the faults,
All which goes overlooked…
No regard,
To way in which we impact them,
The way in which we may hurt them…
All because it is so easy,
Justifying ourselves…
So we fail,
Fail to appreciate…
That which is offered.
The most tragic part about it all…
We fail to realize,
That someone…
Might feel exactly the way we do…
For our fears may have influenced theirs…
